Specs Comparison: LG Optimus G vs. HTC One X

LG has recently launched a monstrously specced Optimus phone – the LG Optimus G. It comes complete with a whole new level of smartphone technology. The company’s new flagship device is very impressive with its spectacular 4.7 inches WXGA, quad-core processor, etc. Here is a comparison between the LG Optimus G and of the really topnotch smartphones – the HTC One X.


Ergonomics & Design: The Optimus G measures 131.9 mm lengthwise, 68.9 mm breadthwise and 8.5 mm in thickness. The phone weighs 145 g. The One X measures 134.4 mm in length, 69.9 mm in breadth and 8.9 mm in thickness. The phone weighs 130 g. The Optimus G sports a true HD-IPS + LCD display of 4.7 inches and with a resolution of 768 * 1280 pixels and a sharpness of 318 PPI. The One X features a Super IPS LCD2 touchscreen of 4.7 inches and a resolution of 720 * 1280 pixels and a sharpness of 312 PPI. The screens are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The Optimus G is powered by LG Optimus UI v3.0 while the One X is equipped with the HTC Sense UI.

OS: The phones are equipped with Android operating systems, the version being v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and upgradable to v4.1. The Optimus G is powered by a quad-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. The One X is driven by a quad-core processor too with a Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset and a clock speed of 1.5 GHz.

Memory: The Optimus G has 32 GB internal space and 2 GB RAM. The One X has 32 GB storage too but with 1 GB RAM. Neither of the phones doesn’t have a micro SD slot.

Camera: The Optimus G has a 13 MP or 8 MP primary camera (depends on the market) with features like LED flash, geo-tagging, autofocus, etc. The One X has an 8 MP unit in the rear with reams of features such as LED flash, simultaneous HD video and image recording, geo-tagging, etc. The phones can shoot 1080p video at a frame rate of 30 fps. They have 1.3 MP front cameras. The One X front camera can shoot 720p video.

Connectivity: The phones have 2G and 3G networks enabled by GSM and HSDPA. They have GPRS and EDGE features as well. The phones are Wi-Fi enabled. NFC and Bluetooth options are available as well.

Battery Life: The Optimus G has a Li-Po battery rated at 2100 mAh. The One X is fuelled by a Li-Po battery with a rating of 1800 mAh.

Price: The One X costs around $650. The price of the LG Optimus G is not known yet.

Wrap Up: There are hardly any phones that can survive in a spec-to-spec battle with the Optimus G. However, it is too early to call it the phone of the year. We don’t know the price yet so nothing can be predicted. But going by the fact that LG usually undercuts its competitors the LG Optimus G has a good chance of beating the One X and stand out in the throng of top-end smartphones in today’s market.
