LG has recently launched a monstrously specced Optimus phone – the LG Optimus G. It comes complete with a whole new level of smartphone technology. The company’s new flagship device is very impressive with its spectacular 4.7 inches WXGA, quad-core processor, etc. Here is a comparison between the LG Optimus G and of the really topnotch smartphones – the HTC One X.

Ergonomics & Design: The Optimus G measures 131.9 mm lengthwise, 68.9 mm breadthwise and 8.5 mm in thickness. The phone weighs 145 g. The One X features a Super IPS LCD2 touchscreen of 4.7 inches and a resolution of 720 * 1280 pixels and a sharpness of 312 PPI. The screens are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The Optimus G is powered by LG Optimus UI v3.0 while the One X is equipped with the HTC Sense UI.

OS: The phones are equipped with Android operating systems, the version being v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and upgradable to v4.1. The Optimus G is powered by a quad-core Krait processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. The One X is driven by a quad-core processor too with a Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset and a clock speed of 1.5 GHz.

Memory: The Optimus G has 32 GB internal space and 2 GB RAM. The One X has 32 GB storage too but with 1 GB RAM. Neither of the phones doesn’t have a micro SD slot.

Camera: The Optimus G has a 13 MP or 8 MP primary camera (depends on the market) with features like LED flash, geo-tagging, autofocus, etc. The One X has an 8 MP unit in the rear with reams of features such as LED flash, simultaneous HD video and image recording, geo-tagging, etc. The phones can shoot 1080p video at a frame rate of 30 fps. Wrap Up: There are hardly any phones that can survive in a spec-to-spec battle with the Optimus G. However, it is too early to call it the phone of the year. We don’t know the price yet so nothing can be predicted. But going by the fact that LG usually undercuts its competitors the LG Optimus G has a good chance of beating the One X and stand out in the throng of top-end smartphones in today’s market.

Specs Comparison: LG Optimus Vu vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100

The LG Optimus Vu that was unveiled at the MWC 2012 is going to be marketed as the LG Intuition by Verizon. The LG Intuition is more of a phablet than a phone thanks to its tablet-esque look. So, can this product be Verizon’s answer to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2? Here is a comparison between the two devices.

Ergonomics & Design The Intuition measures 139.6 mm in length, 90.4 mm in breadth and 8.5 mm in thickness. The device weighs around 168 g. The Galaxy Note 2’s footprint measures 151.1 * 80.5 mm. The Note 2 weighs around 183 g and is 9.4 mm thick. The Intuition sports a HD-IPS LCD display of 5 inches and a resolution of 768 * 1024 pixels. The 4:3 aspect ratio screen of the LG Intuition provides a different take on mobile computing. The Note 2 features a screen with a resolution of 720 * 1280 pixels spread over a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 267 ppi and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2.

OS The phones run on Android platform. However, the versions are different. While the Note 2 runs the Jelly Bean v4.1.1, the Intuition is running the relatively older Ice Cream Sandwich. The Intuition is powered by a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset processor clocked at 1.3 G, on the other hand, the other hand is driven by an efficient quad-core ARM Cortex A9 processor packing an Exynos 4412 chipset and having a clock speed of 1.6 GHz.

Memory The LG Intuition comes with 32 GB of internal memory along with 1 GB RAM. The Note 2 has 16/32/64 GB of internal storage space available with 2 GB RAM. However, the Intuition doesn’t have a micro SD slot while the Note 2 can accommodate 64 GB of extra memory.

Camera The Note 2 features an 8 MP shooter in the rear with features as LED flash, autofocus, geotagging, etc. and the digital zoom of 4x. The Intuition too has an 8 MP unit in the rear having topnotch features as LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, autofocus, etc. The phone cameras can also shoot videos at a quality of 1080p and a frame rate of 30 fps. The Note 2 has a 1.9 MP front camera while the Intuition features a 1.3 MP secondary camera.

Connectivity The Intuition and the Note 2 are GSM and HSDPA enabled. Verizon has provided a 4G network to the Intuition via LTE. Wireless networking is enabled by Wi-Fi 802.11. The phones also have Bluetooth and micro USB port for local area connectivity. The phones have NFC chips.

Battery The Intuition is fuelled by a Li-Po battery rated at 2080 mAh. The Note 2 is fuelled by a Li-Ion battery rated at 3100 mAh.

Price The Note 2 is available at $ 650 without any contract. The Intuition is available at $199 from the Verizon at a two-year agreement.

Wrap Up The Intuition may not be able to beat the Galaxy Note 2. Its chances of taking on the S-Pen stylus tablet are hampered by its lack of digitizer and 4:3 aspect ratio.

Specs Comparison: Motorola Droid Razr M vs. Samsung Galaxy S3

The new Droid family’s smallest member – the Motorola Droid Razr M has made quite an impression. It is adorned with a quality screen and slimline dimensions. The phone is well stocked with specs and is definitely going to give some tough competition to other smartphones in the market. In today’s article, we are comparing the Droid Razr M with the top phone of today’s market, the Samsung Galaxy S III.

Ergonomics & Design: The S III measures 136.6 mm lengthwise, 70.6 mm breadthwise and 8.6 mm thick. The phone weighs 133 g. The Razr M measures 122.5 mm in length, 60.9 mm in breadth and 8.3 mm in thickness. It weighs 126 g. The S III features a Super AMOLED display with amazing clarity and brightness and a resolution of 720 * 1280 pixels spread over the 4.5-inch panel. The Razr M also has a Super AMOLED touchscreen but with a resolution of 540 * 960 pixels. It is a 4.3-inch panel and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass like the S III.

OS: The phones run on Android v4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The S III is driven by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz and packed with an Exynos 4412 Quad chipset. The Razr M is powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz.

Memory: The S III comes in three models based on internal storage – 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB each available with 1 GB RAM. The phone has a micro SD slot that can house up to 64 GB of extra memory. The Razr M has 8 GB of internal space and 1 GB RAM. Its micro SD slot can house up to 32 GB.

Camera: The phones sport 8 MP shooters in the rear with features as LED flash, geo-tagging and touch focus. The S III camera can simultaneously shoot HD videos and images. The phone cameras can record 1080p video at a frame rate of 30 fps. The S III features a 1.9 MP secondary camera that can shoot 720p video at 30 fps. The Razr M has a VGA as its front camera.

Connectivity: The phones support 2G, 3G and 4G networks. While the S III is GSM and HSDPA enabled, the Razr M has a dual antenna system. It supports both CDMA and GSM connectivity. In other words, the Razr M can be used anywhere in the world. EDGE and GPRS are enabled on both phones. Wireless connection options include Wi-Fi 802.11, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot, etc. Bluetooth, NFC and micro USB v2.0 are local area connectivity options.

Battery Life: The S III is fuelled by a Li-Ion battery rated at 2100 mAh. The Li-Ion battery in the Razr M has a power rating of 2000 mAh.

Price: The S III is available at $600. The Razr M is supposed to be available at $99 on a two-year deal.

Wrap Up: The Motorola Droid Razr M projects itself as a very popular phone indeed. It is cost effective and the specs are quite a handful for such a price range. It is not without faults though. The design is not up to the mark and screen size seems cramped at times. The Droid Razr M is definitely a phone to watch in the coming months. However, it may not be able to provide competition to the Samsung Galaxy S II.

Gaming On Android

There has been a huge debate behind the scenes about which mobile operating system is better – iOS, Android or Windows. The two big hitters in the market today are Apple and Android, and so it seems obvious that it would be one of those two since they account for over 50% of the total phones sold every year. But if you’re looking for a phone with unprecedented access to content on the internet, unparalleled reliability and a host of great games then you should look no further than the Android, which is probably the reason why Android smartphones are dominating the market these days.

The Android OS was developed as a standardized operating system that could run on any handset. This meant that companies could spend their time building quality phones and tweak the software to bring their particular phone’s strengths to the surface. So whatever kind of phone you have now, you can be sure that if you need to upgrade, you won’t have to spend a lot of time getting used to a new operating system, as most of the working remains the same and only some useful new features are added along the way to make the operating system more engaging for users.

As well as this, the amount of games and apps available on the Android marketplace is astounding. Hundreds of new titles are produced every month, so the avid gamer will have no problem finding something to play. Not only that, unlike the Apple app market where most of the apps are paid, Android has thousands of free apps that offer great entertainment for zero investment. As well as this, the integrated web browser allows full access to everything that the internet has to offer. So if you’re more interested in playing in an environment, this will be the sort of thing you’ve been looking for.

No matter what your game, you’re sure to find something that will interest you. Whether you’re mad about Poker, roulette or other online casino games, or want to find a new puzzle game to keep you busy as the winter months draw in, there’s something to suit all tastes and it’s all available right in the palm of your hand. Gaming really has come home.
